CLASSES
All our classes are mixed gender and have a range of ages and experience. We accept athletes from 6-12 years old in our Children’s classes. Our Adult classes are open to anyone over the age of 12.
Our club welcomes complete novices and experienced grapplers. We endeavour to ensure that members train with a wide variety of opponents. Our ethos is that Brazilian jiu-jitsu is for everyone.
Sessions typically consist of conditioning, drills, Games, techniques and live sparring. All classes are run by our experienced instructors, who are first-aid trained and insured under UKBJJA.
Gi BJJ classes are undertaken in a traditional Gi (kimono) uniform. This grappling style is grip-heavy as both you and your partner can grab one another’s clothing. The benefits of these grips make for many exciting techniques and submissions that are not possible in the other forms of grappling.
Adult Gi
No-Gi training is undertaken without the gi uniform. This style of grappling is generally faster and more dynamic than gi grappling. This includes positions and submissions that are not allowed and/or not available in the gi.
Adult No-gi
Children’s Gi
Our children’s classes are open to athletes aged between 6 and 12 years old. Not only is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu a lot of fun, but it is also a great way to improve fitness, motor coordination and body awareness.
This martial art includes many fundamental aspects of self-defence and instils important values in a child’s development.
Most of all, jiu-jitsu teaches kids how to deal with failure early on and how this is a necessary short-term outcome in any endeavour.
